Quick, simple and fun. Lots of dice rolling.

Quick Quest is a very enjoyable solo-friendly and cooperative card and dice game. It has become one of my preferred games that can be played in one hour or less. The game's random monsters and outcomes make every game unique, while still allowing for players to make important strategic choices. The rules are easy to learn and feel well-balanced. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys dungeon crawlers and fantasy-themed games, and especially to anyone looking for a game that can be played solo.

A real hidden gem. A fun solo dungeon crawler that can be played with extra player as well.

Just played this game last night. Though I was initially skeptical of solo play, I ended up having an enjoyable experience. It felt like a mixture of Farkle and Solitaire, all wrapped in an RPG. The artwork was a good fit for the game, and it looked fairly polished for a POD game.

I have played a couple of solo games of Quick Quest now, and thoroughly enjoy every session. I really believe this is the game for those looking for a solo dungeon crawling experience. The rules are simple, the play is fast, and after each encounter you really feel like you have accomplished something.

What I like:

  • Fun quick (20-45 minute) dungeon crawl
  • Nice use of dice, creating interesting decisions
  • The monster, trap, and treasure abilities are simple, but interesting

What I don't like:

  • It's really a solo game that can be played cooperatively (my first 2p co-op session was 90 minutes and not very satisfying)
  • You can't play with just 2 characters (always 3 or 4)
  • No map/spatial aspect
  • Leveling up just adds HP and an extra attack die, not better abilities
  • Setup is slightly fiddly, where you shuffle the bosses back into the deck. The game might be more balanced and easier to set up if you keep them out.

I have been looking for a solo/cooperative dungeon crawl for a long time, and this is better than most. Each dungeon level "n" is just one encounter, of "n" monsters, followed by rest and chance to level up.

The box is a nice sized TGC box, with a foam insert that should actually protect both the components and the box. That's a pleasant surprise, although the little tab that keeps the box closed might not survive many openings. The label on the outside of the box is attractive.

The rules are fairly simple, so I would put the weight around 1.7 (comparable to Forbidden Island, perhaps). However, you do have to pay close attention to the monster and item abilities, and some of them are a bit confusing on first read.

A great solo game - fast moving, challenging, nice amount of player decisions, good components, and a real 'just one more game' appeal. Highly recommended!
