Great game! It's fun solo as well as with friends... it can be played head-to-head or cooperatively against the 'reaction system'. For me it's pretty much taken up the slack of Necromunda and other small scifi skirmish games. It's adaptable to pretty much any setting and whatever figures you want to game with. I've played Star Wars and Blade Runner themed games as well as 40K and Flash Gordon. It's just a matter of playing the mini-games of force design and scenario building to get whatever you like out of it. It's pretty much an RPG with a strong focus on combats, less on play-acting (not that there is anything wrong with play-acting, I love traditional RPGs as well).

One caveat though, 5150 and the various THW games in general are NOT for players who want to micromanage their forces, who want to tweak army 'builds' to perfection with assurance that every element will behave as expected. It's not designed as a competition game for conventions and 'tournaments'... I wouldn't recommend playing it with strangers who want to win at all costs. It's less about the result and more about the process.
