OVERALL: I like it as a family game with youngsters. I like to block competitively or laid back trying to go for qwirkles. I enjoy trying to help my son see combos on the board.
2-4. More stuff!
Scrabble-esque tile placement with shapes and colours instead. Good family game.
Sadly, the iPad implementation is much more fun than the board game and my wife doesn't like the game at all.
Qwirkle Select - adds tokens to the board that, when collected, gives the player the opportunity on a subsequent turn to choose a tile from the board (that's not part of a Qwirkle) and add it to their hand (6 tile hand limit still applies). This adds a nice new dimension to the game in which players can plan for a bigger score later in the game. The limited board size also adds a bit of interest. +0.5 to my rating for vanilla Qwirkle.
Bought in Calgary in summer of 2014. $39.99. Picked out by Annie. Recommended by salesman. We have never played Qwirkle before.
