LIKE: Simple play, quick to learn. Tile laying to form your city wall is fun, it's a good puzzle. With 3 players or more the competition was good.
DISLIKE: Luck component with money cards. Two player setup is a tad fiddly. Points can be swingy with two players. The board is a little large on the family version (but real nice). If the game goes slow, the downtime can be painful. Do not play with 5 players.
OVERALL: Good gateway game, has been a good way to introduce people into the Euro genre. The "dummy" player works ok with two people, but 3-4 is better. great to have the Granada version and expansions to add variety. After playing for several years, the game can run a little long compared to modern games.

Similar to Carcassonne in terms of target audience and complexity, but not quite as streamlined and less visually appealing.
I regret a bit that I've bought this version. Should have bought the 'Big box' version.
This version contains also most of the extensions. Good family game. Good components. Easy to teach. Good playable with 2 players by adding the 3rd dummy player.

Absolutely love Alhambra. Am probably rating it too high, but I don't care. I would play it more often than Carcassonne if my group would allow it. Haven't touched any of the expansions in the box.
