There is a good game in this box. The rule book is not good and the components, aside from the cards, make it difficult to see the wow factor of this game. It is, however, well worth the clearance price it is going for. Since I got it for so cheap, I've upgraded the components (except for the board tiles) to enhance its package. If you are looking for a heavy-ish deck builder that can be played solo or with two, I'd recommend this. I'm not sure I'd want to play this over two, as downtime could get a bit too long (but admittedly, I haven't tried). Theoretically, I can see this working with 3 players, but you'd probably want to set the difficulty at 5 appeased gods at the most. This game starts to overstay its welcome if it sticks around past the 2 hour mark.

Like Mage Knight/ST:Frontiers, this will take a few plays to fully internalize the rules. For solo play, I prefer ST:Frontiers over this, but am more likely to play this game at a play count of 2 or more.

It's a shame Mayfair did not give this game the attention it deserved.

I think this is a great game. I have really had fun with solo, with a a few modifications regarding some of the cards. The rules are not perfectly clear regarding solo play, but this must certainly has not stoped me from enjoying my solo gaming experiences with it. It is one of my more's favorite so solo right now.

This is a game that can be quite thinky or a relaxing game to play while watching a movie, depending on your mood. I own few games that are this versatile. The more I put into it, the more I get out of it, but most of the time, I just want to relax and game I can play in an hour when I have some free time.

Mayfair games really did skimp on the components. They should be ashamed of themselves how they produce this game. However, the cards, with the card art, is very nice. The board tiles work fine, and they do not distract gameplay for me. To hero pieces are shameful. They clearly came from other games that Mayfair has already produced. I use painted Viking and Pic minis from shadows over Camelot. I think this is quite a bit to increase the theme of the game.

Overall, I feel this is a very underrated game. I hesitated getting it based on some negative reviews, but I went ahead and acquired the game as the gameplay seemed interesting. I am quite glad I did, and I do recommend this game to others.

SOLD The combat is much too fiddly for me to bother with. A tweak is needed in solo play otherwise you can endlessly cycle your hand to regain the cards you want without moving the timer on. I completed 3 plays, but gave up on at least 3 other attempts.
