The option to sacrifice population is decent. However the addition of more tiles is the best about this exp.
New Civilizations, new Buildings, and a sacrifice mechanic you can add for some...'flavor'. Peloponnes just got real. This also adds another Player Mat so you can be at either 7 or 8 (if you've got the Box or other expansions).
Makes the game more convoluted by adding yet another dimension to it (you can sacrifice people). The idea is cool that you can off population and pay money to have some secure population in the end of the game even though they are worth less (2 instead of 3 points each), but the added playtime is not worth it so I prefer the game without this expansion.
Interesting.
One could say that the expansion mitigates the disastorus effects of not feeding your people and that's bad because it rewards being unprepared. I can't agree with such a statement.
First of all - there is no guarantee that the possibility of sacrificing your population will pop up right in the desirable timeframe.
Two - feeding is still painful and you should be very careful with it even with this expansion.
Three - penalty for sacrificing the population is considerable (i.e. the value of each step of population is reduced by 1) so you should aim at feeding all your people anyway.
Still, you can eke out a few more VPs from the population path if you play smart using the possibilities the 'Sacrum' offers.
New tiles and civs are welcome too.
