Single-deck play is way, way more fun than you think an "expansion" to CHESS would be.

Great game! As a chess player I was put off trying this but as soon as I played my first game I was hooked. Totally different and much faster than chess it's just a very entertaining, relaxing, mental romp. Excellent!

In the past I have enjoyed chess, I got into it a little bit, read some strategy, got a nice chess set. But these days I rarely want to play regular chess. It can be fun, but a lot depends on players being of nearly equal skill level which doesn't seem to happen much for me. This makes chess into a chaotic romp with lots of cool unexpected things happening. Tons of cards- it's kind of amazing they came up with so many. The common deck variant is fun for a quick game and the deck building version (the main rules) is cool too. And although this isn't something I'd want to play all the time it definitely has it's place in my collection. If we're going to play chess then we're going to play Knightmare Chess. I can definitely see my chess set getting some more use now.

It's like fairy chess on steroids, man.

Requires ownership of a chess set. Quite challenging!
