Ogre / G.E.V.

OGRE: The concept of "quality vs. quantity" taken to the nth degree. It started off as one of as the first offerings of [company=356][/company], and it fits the format: easy, small, sci-fi/fantasy-themed, clever concept, pulled off well. It is still pretty fun, but shows its age.

G.E.V: It is an updated version of [thing=5206][/thing] with updated combat rules and better scenarios. Playing with a stack of GEVs vs. an army is even better than one giant tank. One of the better pocket games on the market.

Some days I think I like GEV even more than Ogre.

Love this very affordable and modular futuristic wargame. Simple tactics but great variety of terrain/maps and units. Endless re-playability. If I could only play one game for the rest of my life, it might be this...

This is the Y2K combined edition, the penultimate version of the original game.

an underrated classic intro to hex and counter wargames. That being said it does not compare to modern designs like Command and Colors and Hannibal RvC.

Antiquted or not this was the anchor of my love affair with gaming. Without OGRE/G.E.V. and many other Metagaming favs I'm not sure I would have transitioned into gaming as a hobby.
