Intersting expansion which transfers a few more elements from the books to the game and leads to more strategic options, but I doubt that it is really helpful for the balancing: The Elves just don't have enough Units in Reserve to reinforce Galadriels Fortress, Isengart doesn't have to use his special Muster-Ability to activate the Ents because of theit new cannonfodder and the siege towers are much easier to recruit for the shadow player because of the higher number of dice.
More of a great thing. Nice bits, another gorgeous John Howe illustrated map, and a strong field strategic rendition of the two battles that gave the Free Peoples victory over the dark lord. Props to FFG!
New characters were cool, but the factions are a disappointment. This could have been a lot more, adding more new tactics...
I haven't tried the two minigames included yet.
Good and thematic additions. Not necessary to enjoy the game, though.
