About Lock 'n Load Tactical: Bear and the Jackal

A few plays after getting the knack of the solo system.
It shares the general feeling of the LnLT system so it’s a lot of fun. For me it provides the do-your-own-action-movie experience that makes the system so fun.
In this particular case the approach has the twist of a guerrilla warfare and a touch of skirmish affaires. Very welcome in contrast with the Red Star module.

The best system for post-WWII tactical combat.
Great topic here the system seem to be at best.
Nice match up - that Russian AGS-17 is almost unstoppable. Russian helicopters can be tough too. good system and generating heroes can really change the game. good replayability
At first glance this mini-module/ expansion to Heroes Of The Gap appeared a bit one-note, with not a lot of additional flavour added in to set the Mujahideen apart from the host of other combatants in the LnL series. Woefully under-gunned, usually with no vehicles and weak arty when it appears at all, it should be an easy romp for The Soviets. Well, that was their thought in the 80's, wasn't it? Instead, and with only a few special characteristics to assist them, the Mujahideen bring the fight to The Sovs at every opportunity. Local knowledge is rewarded with lower movement costs over hills and rough terrain and, if the Afghan player can draw his opponent's Soviets into the villages, their ambush capability can end a melee before the Sovs even know what's happening. Non-combatant villagers change alliances from one scenario to the next, sometimes even during a scenario, adding additional spice and uncertainty. My only negative to add is that a few of the scenarios feel a bit same-same, but there are enough unique engagements here to provide some really satisfying gaming.
