At my first attempts to play this, this game does not do a good job of simulating the Franco Prussian War. Given the number of counters and the size of the map, the French can develop a continual line, intrench and hold off the Germans. In the real war, this was not possible. However, after reading the other reviews, I'm going to give this game another chance.

Arrived 2 FEB 2018 - Hey only 19 months until it hit the table! Let’s me tell you a tale of a game. This game called VMT we put on the table, read the rules and avoided it. Even with reading several books on the Franco-Prussian War we avoided it. But there was something about it that prevented me from picking it up and boy that would have been a grievous mistake as it would have gone back into the gaming cabinets for several years. VMT is simply a first-rate delightful little game that mirrors well in my mind the opening moves of this war. Any chrome is seamlessly integrated and never interferes with game play. It is a tight, solid product that replicates the puzzle both sides faced with just enough fluidity that one can easily see this becoming a wild, swirling game.

It bears repeating again, But here is the one thing to know – VMT is one heck of a sleeper of a game that may not grab you and shake you, but it will surprise you in both its play and subtlety. We owe Tom Russell a nod of thanks for persevering in his attempts to bring this game to life for us the gaming community.

Fast playing, fun game. The French can still cause headaches so not as one sided as led to believe. Decent topic that works well at this scale. Try playing both sides if time permits?
