Hermann Luttmann must be undead because his guy knows zombies! Back when pretty much every zombie game sucked, he showed us how to do it correctly with the epic [thing=144568]Dawn of the Zeds[/thing]. I got this thinking there is no way lightning can strike twice in the same place, but that tree is toast!

I admit that the thought of a zombie game with wargame-based mechanics did not get me excited, but this is a new-generation wargame: not odds-based Combat Results Tables, zone of controls and the like.

It uses a clever initiative system similar to [thing=12995][/thing] and an action points system similar to [thing=2081][/thing], but hooks up both to the power line to give the initiative/activation system a huge jolt. He ditches the dice and uses cards to determine combat, but you simply cannot play the math game to assure victory. The game rewards smart tactical play and leaves enough uncertainty to provide sufficient fog of war.

Bravo Hermann, you zombie, you!

Great game, minimal rules chrome. So much story in the cards.

This is a great, cheap little ziplock game.

[E] Another fine Luttmann game! So much fun - very atmospheric - streamlined gameplay - simple ruleset - very enjoyable! Not sure it would be as much fun F2F - the Zombie player may not have as many decisions to make and it's odd to control Zombies "intelligently" anyway, no? Anyway, works great solo - as the human player, lots of tension and urgency as the zombie hordes keep coming, and for the zombie, I can move them as I think they would move in a zombie movie (with SOME intelligence to be sure).

Great time- Hermann Luttmann has become a "must buy" designer for me.

This game repackages a number of wargame systems into a pulpy, narrative-driven zombie game. It does a great job of providing assymmetry that informs the tactical considerations, while also keeping the rules simple and the interface approachable. This game strikes me as a light wargame with battlefield chaos in the vein of Combat Commander. The card systems for initiative and combat are great. For this level of pulp, I do wish the game played a bit faster. This game would be improved if the experience could be maintained while chopping about two turns off the current six.

Fun and semi-chaotic zombie wargame. Only 1 scenario included, but there are multiple setup options and tactical choices to be made.
