After a few plays of Cauldron decks, I think at this point, I probably wouldn't get any of the full Cauldron sets, but just like a few of the decks that I think are particularly fun and thought out (ignoring the rest of the material).
The Cauldron is a must-have for fans of Sentinels of the Multiverse, but with some caveats. The villains and especially the environments are taxing. I will not play in St. Simeon's Catacombs. Cauldron heroes often feel overpowered, even if they aren't, though Necro stands out as distinctly underpowered, hampering the heroes fighting against the villain.
That said, the hero decks are otherwise well designed, and while the best characters are in the later expansions, Malichae, Vanish, Quicksilver, Tango One and Lady of the Wood are classic favorites. I also enjoy fighting both the RAM and Anathema, and Northspar is arguably the best environment in the whole set.
A classic example of fan made p+p working at optimal efficiency. I bought all the cauldron at once so no clue which came with which but as TC on the whole rocks you'll be happy with ANY of it
I really like all things Sentinels, and this made a great extension. The artwork very similar, and does good homage to the other characters. I also managed to get the cards printed cheap before that particular place upped costs 50%. Some of the characters a bit powerful, and a couple are not very interesting but, hey, the variety is very nice!
Picked up this and all expansions. Pricey, but I like supporting tosx and his crazy vision.
Great stuff here. Both this and the original feel a bit unpolished in places. This is probably less polished overall, with a few too many specialized and/or situational decks (making random setups tricky). But both have their issues if you're looking for them (and the original has far less excuse). Artwork is great, in some cases better than original.
Many of these characters are even more interesting than the original sets. Balance is a little on the 'strong' side, but still in the general range of the official characters (Nothing as powerful as Team Leader Tachyon).
This is excellent. As good as any of the regular sets in terms of game design and art. Good enough that the publisher approved sale of it as a print-on-demand product.
A great expansion to Sentinels of the Multiverse, though not without its flaws. Be prepared for more finicky play, as the mechanics of the heroes are definitely more complicated (but endlessly enjoyable, I personally LOVE Doc Havoc and Vanish). The environments are mechanically interesting and many try to tell a story, which I like, but they are a little too unforgiving to the heroes as a whole. I haven't played with the villains as much as I have the heroes, but they've been enjoyable and interesting so far.
