Does not use the game mechanics well. Very easy. Scenario is very weak and relies on stereotypes. I wouldn't advise playing it if you're over 18 years old. Expansion made for 4 players only. No variety in characters: only 4 characters for 4 players. Illustrations sometimes do not correspond to the text.
I want to be clear: this version had the best characters of any expansion we've played and I would have loved to give it a 10 for that, plus I loved being a small child running around "Pleasantville USA" with a gun, drugs and a dog called lucky, hunting perverts in the drive in movie.... if only it had been all that good!!!! Saddly the ending burst the bubble and the folks I played with felt let down. There was so much that was so good here!!!!
Pretty good fan expansion. I thought the characters were cool, although I wasn't a fan of being required to play with all 4 (just cause we always have a group of 3, so I like when the game doesn't make 1 person use 2 characters; but that's not the game's fault anyway). I did like the family aspect though, thought that worked well. I found the story a little bit slow and stagnant, and thought that not much was happening at a bunch of locations, but the other locations with more 'action' definitely made up for it. I don't want to spoil it but I did think the "twist" was a little bit weird [wasn't expecting it at all] but I guess it fit with the overall mission of the game. Also enjoyed the end game mechanic. Overall, worth a play.
Okay fan expansion
Nice fan-made expansion. Fun to play! Looking forward to part II of the series ;).
[This rating is based on the consensus of my family.] If you are looking for something hardcore, or "just like the officials," this is neither. This is a light and whimsical scenario. It is perfect for families, game clubs/cafes, first time players, and those that want a fun time, and a bit of mystery, but don't want a total brain-burner.
My son is a fairly hardcore gamer so I wasn't sure how he would like this. He enjoyed himself and really appreciated that we were all able to work on the puzzle simultaneously. There have been others where it was difficult for more than one person (or one side of the table) to see and solve a puzzle. My daughter really liked the whimsical part and the absence of gore, the puzzle did not make her feel stupid, and the length of the game was perfect for her fairly short attention span (2.5 hours for us). My husband does not like overly complicated rules; Austin's were clear.
A good T.I.M.E Stories session is all about picking the right scenario for the right group of people. This was perfect for our family game night. Thanks, Austin.
I was one of the playtesters for the final version of this game. The game, based in 1950s America, does an excellent job at giving a quaint and entertaining "Beaver Cleaver" feel to the gameplay, but works in dynamics that are very reminiscent of the mainstream T.I.M.E. Stories games. The storyline is fascinatingly detailed and the game has a good amount of difficulty, aiming much more towards mystery solving then combat. I recommend everyone try it out and keep an eye on this author if they can.
