Expansion adds the Borg as a common non-player enemy.
Pros:
- The Borg
- Semi-cooperative gameplay (common enemy)
Cons:
- Only playable with Ulitmate Complete Rulesbook (UCR) due to rules gap and broken Borg behavior with original rules https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/159987/unofficial-complete-rulebook-star-trek-ascendancy
- Colors are mismatched with base game
- Adds a lot of complexity to the game (Borg AI behavior)
- Makes the game much more random and luck-driven

This is based on the solo-mode. It changes the game a lot and doesn't feel like the base-game at all. It is still an okay game, but the rules are a nightmare and I'm sure I played it wrong.
Honestly, I did not like this expansion. I don't think it improves the game, all it did was make it impossible! We died so fast!! We read the rules multiple times to make sure we were playing correctly, and sure enough we were. Resistance really was futile and we were overrun and utterly defeated by the Borg way too fast! I don't know, maybe that's the fun of it? Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game, but I definitely prefer Ascendancy sans the Borg.
