Vermin Vendetta

Really fun game. 1.5 -2 hour play time. Looking forward to the Kickstarter.

I'm rating primarily from a solo perspective. The theme is very well integrated here, with each faction's ability cards reflecting the real life behaviours in interesting, different ways. In the middle of a game it truly feels like the board is a yard crawling with insect activity, fighting for survival.

I like that the solo variant feels like a combat puzzle, especially since fights aren't resolved through dice rolls but instead through a system where position and orientation determined strength. The AI Event deck acts as a game timer but in my plays I found the AI itself (which acts fairly aggressive) to be more pressing than the timer. As someone who doesn't enjoy tight timers as the "opponent" this is definitely a plus.

The basic rules aren't too difficult to learn, but as with any asymmetric game there's a learning curve for every different faction and interactions and edge cases that can be challenging to resolve.

It seems like there's probably a point at which each faction would be "solved" in terms of the best order for completing missions and evolving. But I also think it would take upwards of 20 or more games between all the different set up possibilities. The Advanced loss conditions for solo enemies would further add to this variety, as would the planned expansions factions which I hope to see in the future

If you could get a dedicated play partner I'm sure the PvP would be a great skirmish experience.
