IT IS NOT LIKE MONOPLY! Which is what I was thinking at first look. After speaking with the maker and an explanation of how to play I was curious. After further review I see the educational benefits for kids (and myself) and replayability for all ages. Great game, I am happy I have it a chance.
I teach finance classes at a University in Wisconsin. I use this game to reinforce some of the concepts I teach. Think of it as Monopoly, but substitute stocks and bonds for real estate. And then throw in the goal being to retire, not be super rich. That's a decent summary!
Obviously inspired by Monopoly, the basic mechanism is the same - roll the dice, move around the board, conduct business based on where you land.
However, it is more interesting than Monopoly. It's ok to land on stocks owned by other people; you can buy some too, and the price goes up and down along with supply. Or you can choose to sell instead of buy. Or you can take a gamble on a stock alert. With such choices, it's not the mindless slogging that Monopoly usually becomes.
Unique in that any player can choose to initiate the end game, so you can decide you've had about enough and bring it to a close; it doesn't have to drag on for hours.
Good quality construction, amateurish design, poor instructions - several grammar errors, and it seems that every game, we find a situation that the rules don't clearly address.
