So far very much enjoyed putting this into the game and found it worked well with two players. Will keep it in our games unless teaching noobs.
NOTE! If you don't like the dice aspect of Stone Age this will fuel that fire. Because the mechanism is, single high die wins, you can invest multiple dice and lose to a single better roll.
Though dice-'hate'-me, it does even out in the end. In our first game I lost almost every roll but we balanced out the 10 points bonus, plus everyone gets some return with the 'B' bonus. We chose to go for the mammoth taming on almost every round and this seemed to distract us and workers from the Jewelry expansion that we also always play with.
Mammoth changes the thought process to some degree which is a nice change after many plays of the game. We do need to get more plays in with this.
Plays will be recorded in the base game.
1 play, 3 players
I like this expansion, the rewards are interesting and I like how it creates another layer of competition. The rules about how the mammoth resource is now open to all players is awkward, but experienced Stone Age players will find it easy to understand.
Ok the extras, this is the one I prefer...grab a little more food and get a bonus...feed it brick once hehe! www.youtube.com/amassgames BGA
Home made. Without it the game is too simple, and it opes up a space in 2-3 players for all to place workers. Should be in the base game box. For more randomness I shuffle all mammoths, deal 4 to each resource space face down and then use an 4 sided die to see which one reveals each round. Is pleasant to plays with it!
Excellent expansion that I will probably include every time. Almost no changes to the base rules, but adds an extra decision and a bit of excitement!
