This set wasn't very good, but it has one of the best cards ever, Force of Will.

This is when Magic got back on track. I own the entire set.

With Alliances WotC started to blow new life into MtG. Smaller expansion with higher power levels than most of its predecessors. Some very exciting cards here.

The first new set released after I started playing Magic, Alliances seemed to have a higher power level at the time than what had been printed in the previous year and a half. Looking over it now I'm not sure it's all that, and it retains a bunch of crap elements like cumulative upkeep and rampage. I have a soft spot for Deadly Insect though. Most Kaja Foglio: Kjeldoran Pride (bear version). Honorable mention: Lim-Dûl's High Guard (scimitar version).

Introduced spells that could be played without mana (staple: Force of Will). Not much content for Limited Play.
