For God, King and Country: A Guidebook to the English Civil Wars

Decent ECW wargame. Can also be played with paper counters for those lacking the skill & patience to paint models and terrain.

I haven't used the rules, but I thought that there were some good resources about the English Civil War, including battles and armies. I have enjoyed all of the Canadian Wargamers' Group publications, particularly those on the American Revolution and the War of 1812. My rating is based on the value of the background materials in the book rather than the rules, which as I have noted, I have not played.

A member of my gaming group painted up 28mm armies for the English Civil War, so I gifted my copy to him.

Another CWG guidebook and miniatures rules. Only given them a single play so far and they work well. The combat system appears to be from Flower of Chivalry with the musketry from Habitants & Highlanders/Rocket's Red Glare. The author clearly favours Montrose in the scenarios as he is almost unbeatable.
