This was a Christmas present from my girlfriend who backed it on Kickstarter and I have to say, I LOVE this game! It's really well thought out and very clever and really good if you're the kind of gamer who likes to stick it to their mates. My group really enjoyed it and it's definitely one that will make it to the table regularly, I'd say!

Great game! Wide range of tactics you can chose in order to win, by just selling rum, or collecting a strong crew and living life of skirmishes, duels and pillage. Very interesting mechanism with tides and wind direction: it's a nice alternative to dice, and less random, so allowing for a bit more planning ahead. The two person gameplay feels a lot different than the 3+: not better or worse, just different, which is an asset! I'd recommend watching the videos explaining the rules on the game's official website: it's very helpful, although brace yourselves for a lot of pirate talk, yarr!

Played this for the first time with my son (7) and we both had a blast. Pick up and deliver game with light hand management and a lot of opportunity to screw each other over (think a slightly more complex Escape from Atlantas). It's also one of the most charming games i've played, the flavour text on the cards is fantastic. Looking forward to trying it with more players.

This has so much promise; neat sounding movement mechanics, flexible methods of picking a fight... but the overall objectives of the game don't offer diversity/flexibility in feel. Just ditch your rum ASAP and aim to make the most money possible from it

Played this once with 3 people total and it just took forever. Even for the first game it seemed we were making decisions relatively quickly, but there is a lot happening each turn so it takes a while for it to get back around to you. The game seems like it would be fun in theory but felt more like a grind. I'm also not a big fan of "stick-it-to-em" games, which is a major component as well as unavoidable at times. There seems to be a bit of flexibility in regards to strategy, which is appealing. I'll try again and hopefully have a better experience.

Great family game! And the two player game is a treat. The production is fantastic and you can't help yarrself but get in to the pirate spirit

I've enjoyed the first few games of this. I can see that the creators have put a lot of time and love into making this game. All of the cards are in-theme and there's a lot of laugh-out-loud funny pirate and rum descriptions.

You start with 20 barrels of rum to sell and you have to make several trips from your galleon to port and back again to sell them all. It takes discipline to not get distracted too much by attacking other players' ships or bribing the sea-monster to wreak havoc on other players. There's lots of different ways to play this game and your tactics have to change to suit the current tide and wind direction. If you're lucky then you can get all the way to the furthest port and get paid 10 florins for each barrel but you had better watch out for all of the players wanting to have a piece of you on the way back to your galleon.

All in all - a very fun game. Looking forward to playing it more and discovering how the different tactics work.

For a "themed family game", this is not too bad. Some rules issues, and not especially well balanced, but fun for an occasional game.
