Very fun word game
After a few games, it's a neat social game, and it makes you want to go down the rabbit hole of "ok, that's the obvious clue, so now whats the less obvious clue." Eventually, a group sort of gets into a groove about what area of knowledge they want to tackle and you largely don't have conflicts. I wish the rules were a little more strict and explanatory about exceptions. We've played it as the most strict interpretation possible for "linguistic cousins" or however it's phrased. Starts at a 7, likely to drop. Don't know if I'll keep it or not, but it will serve the purpose of a quick game night game.
edit: 10 games later. It's become a real hit for our group. I suspect it will always be available, but I don't know that it's something I would ask for. That said, our first couple of games (when we were honestly trying to do well and master the clue giving phase), we scored 12/13. Since then we've gone to "can I give clues that pertain to movies I think the other person knows..." and other stuff like that and we hover around half of those points...
edit2: I've just about worn out the box it's gotten played so much. It's a game that I have no interest in ever asking to play, but I'll totally play it if we cobble together a group of 4 or 5 people.
edit3: I think it's less player count sensitive than it is player cohort sensitive. I think it's best with people you don't know because that limits what clues you can give and creates a greater tension on avoiding conflicts.
Good fun, just don't think it will have staying power. Regardless, it’s worth to get out once in a while. We did have a good laugh and scored a perfect game in our 3rd try!
This is so smart why hasn't anyone thought of making this game before? Probably the best party game that I have at the moment.
Update 1-13-2022: Game is still good but does get repetitive after a while. Still one of the best games out there and deserves at least an 8 for being good, simple, and a fun activity for everyone involved. It is especially good with different people and as a drinking game.
Excellent cooperative party game. Players are encouraged to think outside the box to avoid duplicated clues, but generic enough to help the active player guess the word.
