Got this as a gift from! Strategicon this weekend. I am going to start off with the good pros and then move to the unfortunately list of cons.
Pros: -It's fun to build the road for the game, I think the mechanic alone is really great and has something going for it. If anything it's the best feature.
- the art is cool. I like the character art.
- sniping bosses from your rivals can be fun at times. Though also frustrating
Here is where the majority of the review is going to come in
Cons:
- I understand its a "micro game" but there not being actual car minis is sorta disappointing.
- the road building while fun, can be done In 6 to 7 turns and then it's just sorta boring after the track is assembled. It's also quite small
- the game is called "death race" but there is literally zero racing involved whatsoever
- the characters are serverly unbalanced. There is a purple character that always takes 1 less damage and another that always adds on 1 damage. Which breaks the game. Felt like that had very little play testing. I played yellow and my ability was stupid after the track was built. It literally had 0 uses after 6 turns. Purple blew us away by the way.
- whenever you encounter a boss you take 3 damage no matter what unless you use a precious item (you are allowed 4 to start) then, every turn you stay on you take 3 damage again unless you sacrifice an item. It's dumb and needs to have a way to avoid the boss damage by rolling which leads me to...
- THERE IS NO DICE YOU ROLL WITH CARDS!? You have a stack of four cards you shuffle and you draw 1 out to roll. They do this because some rolls have positives and negatives on the cards, but why not just have a reference card ...? And put a D4 in the tin?
- here is a game breaking glitch we found in the game, want somebody kills the final boss they are stuck on that tile permanently and cannot leave, if the other two players are not then they can literally just drive around and keep getting things and making the other player having to keep past their turn. Like... What? How did no one catch this in testing? I had to double check the rule book but it definitely states that you cannot leave the final boss tile once you are on it.
- I think the most disappointing thing is after you kill the final boss, everybody has to fight each other and the last one standing wins. It's a very boring process, especially if somebody chooses the purple character that takes negative one damage so it's essentially that person's victory every single game unless somebody else is playing the plus one character to attack power and they fight each other. Nonetheless, stupid when the powers are so unbalanced. And the final fight between players takes ages and is so boring!
Not a bad little microgame. I am just not into the semi-coop nature of the game where there will be one winner in the end after you have to work together to defeat the monsters. I will work for the groups I am sure.

This game is very game play easy to pick up and go. Fun design, awesome graphics, and I haven’t played a game like this very unique. Excited to play again it has that last man standing kill em all vibe that I love in a game. Look forward to see how far this game goes in the gaming world
