Fun party game that has potential for hilarious laugh-out-loud moments and player creativity. However it can be an uneven experience based on the card draw and clues given. The conspirator can be figured out very quickly if the clue is too simple and it appears on all of the detectives cards. The game really shines when the clue is vague enough (or matching cards are not drawn) that multiple players are forced to come up with sketchy explanations to back up their choices. There is a lot of pressure on the conspirator player to think of a bogus story quickly, which can be a bit unfair if they come early in turn order. This will probably replace Dixit as my party ice-breaker, as it is better at sparking conversations and is a more engaging experience overall.
Much more interesting than Dixit.
02/25/22: Criminally underrated party game. Amazingly fun, hilarious, and pleasant. Loved it. 01/21/20: Perfect party game. Easy enough to teach. Absolutely kills Spyfall for me, because it does the same "everyone else knows this thing but I don't" in a far less intimidating way. Feels very low stakes and relaxed. Borrows from dixit/mysterium with the cards and while I still love Mysterium, I'd have to admit that this is the more elegant game. Mysterium is a deeper experience (and extra fun for Halloween or an otherwise creepy setting), but I feel this one will probably get played more often, especially with audiences who really don't want to play a longer game.
