The Black Goat of the Woods is a good adversary. Just like his pal, [thing=256985]Yog-Sothoth[/thing], he provides variety, meaning you aren't playing the same old ancient ones from the base game over and over. These expansion bosses are better in the aggregate (the system) than by themselves. The Goat ain't the G.O.A.T. and probably not up to the level of awesome as Hastur and Cthulhu, but he (it?) enhances the base game and the season 1 expansion so much more.

He has a lot of big minions (Dark Youngs) and he is able to teleport them to his side when he's hit and the final level requires you to kill all other monsters in the room before hitting him. That means you'd better be fighting them all along before he enters, or you're toast. But if your attack fails to kill the Dark Young, they spawn on the spot. Ouch. His damage hits everybody, monsters, cultists, and investigators alike, so that helps, but he also hits adjacent spaces, so no hiding away and capping him from afar.
