A charming albeit 'pasted on' theme around a very well designed game with a really good adpatation of the last player 'time track' mechanic. On it's own, I doubt the base game is good enough for me to warrant keeping it but the eight chronicles look like they will keep the game fresh for quite a while and even up the complexity in some cases.

Enjoyed it as much as the original Glen More, though I am concerned that it has become an easier game. The nicer components are a very welcome upgrade from the Alea original, but at the cost of coming in a stupidly large box. Tile placement is a lot easier than the first game with the addition of the clan board, as you can still get resources while maintaining a small tableau. I don't like the removal of the road constraint along the y-axis, as you can now place tiles wherever you please without much planning. There are also less tiles per round, so the scoring rounds seem to happen too quickly before you have much of chance to build up.
Chronicle 1: Fun boat race that I would almost always include. It gives you another way to spend spare movement points, and makes the tile laying more interactive Chronicle 2: Simple, but doesn't add much to the gameplay Chronicle 3: More competition for the whiskey tiles, it's ok Chronicle 4: Seems a bit easy for one player to monopolise the Englishman and have all the fun Chronicle 5: Adds a silly push-your-luck minigame, I have no desire to try this Chronicle 7: End game objectives are great and this is an auto-include. The voting is amusing, but it is rare for an objective to actually be voted out
Takes the great game of Glen More, and makes it even better! Streamlines a few things and adds some optional addons (chronicles), ensuring the game will never get stale.
