We've used this for Renaissance battles with our historical wargaming group. The turn sequence takes some getting used to, but once you get those mechanics down, POW provides a solid game. The army lists that come with the rules are quite comprehensive.

Probably the best set of rules to play this period. It is everything about enitial orders and capacity of command of your generals. A must to have if you like 16th/17th century minitaure rule sets.

Very good system that emphasises leadership and command whilst reflecting differences in troop quality and the variety of tactics and formations.

Sequence of play unusual with movement at the turn end but fine once you get used to it.

A first try for these rules, from memory, certainly since I started recording games played on BGG.
