Wargame; WorldWarTwo; Accesible. Organized; 3D designed.
This game does away with a bunch of traditional concepts: no reaction fire, facing, line of sight, range, or melee rules. Some might balk at the concept that a unit can shoot across the entire map and through buildings and trees and move into the same space as enemy who apparently merely sits by and watches in idleness. As a result it doesn't feel much like a tactical war game. This can be welcoming at times and makes for a fast and streamlined play. Surprisingly I notice that the streamlining does little to alleviate analysis paralysis, and in fact might enhance it for those who like to agonize over decisions as each card has multiple, well-balanced uses.
It is first and foremost a deck builder; I would describe it as 90% Dominion, 10% ASL. I don't think it is a replacement for a "serious" tactical war game and probably shouldn't be considered to be in that category, but this will certainly get more play time due to ease of play.
