Would try again.
First 2 player game Beautuful and streamline. Thé first expérience was great.
Thé game was long. I Hope thé next one ll bé quicker
The best Eric Lang game, and one of the best area control games, due to its simplified design that keeps things closer to an abstract strategy approach than anything else, while still adding the rich experience of asymmetric roles. So, it's like if Santorini became a massive hulking monstrosity that I adore even more.
This feels like more of a Knizia-like abstract than a dudes on a map, which is a huge plus for me. The action selection is very clever, and brings a lot of tension and timing considerations to the gameplay. The player merging mechanism is such a dramatic and elegant way to handle kingmaking, I love it.
I would be keen to play this more, but there is no way a box this size will earn a place on my shelf. I would be more than happy to have a cubes and tokens version of the game.
Should not let you rate a game before it even releases
This really feels like an Eric Lang game, combining several elements he's used before with some new ideas. Overall, the game is fun, easy to learn and I actually liked the merge mechanic (thought I would hate it). I think it's my second favourite game of his, after Chaos in the Old World.
