Sometime 2016? Only took 3 years to get the review up. So how does UQ Baseball perform? Pretty darn well when you consider how few factors are involved. It’s a delightful way to spend a day replaying one teams seasons, or an entire year of a league or division. I am simply amazed at the depth behind these simple little games. I thought UQ Baseball would be ok but no more than that. Well I was so wrong, wrong to the extent that we now own the Pro Basketball Game, the College Basketball Game, the College Football Game and the Pro Football Game versions of Ultra Quick. Moreover, we’ve since expanded into other sports games in the Downey line. If that isn’t a contented and happy customer endorsement, then I don’t know what is folks! The one thing to remind you of again is there are NO individual stats, that UQ is simply to produce W-l and scoring results. You know what? There are times that is simply good enough for me and that allows me to get the quick sports fix without too much back-end cost. It’s quite the bargain and one can always tinker with the rating a bit to do what ifs. Truly a great value here and a game worth your look. Add in fast and friendly customer service and you can’t go wrong with Downey Games – period!

If you want a quick play simulation, this is pretty good. But expect it to lack the excitement of play by play games with individual players (APBA Baseball was my go to a long time ago). Very simple in execution. I re-played the 1876 schedule (courtesy of baseball reference website) for the Pennant winning Chicago White Stockings (a.k.a. Cubs). My record was 60-6 versus the actual 52-14 record. Runs for - 694 v. 624 historical; Runs against - 204 v. 257 historical. The only losses were to the two next teams in the standings. I plan on buying early 20th Century teams at some point.
