Essentially Etchessera but with different pieces. I appreciate the variety and quantity, though I wish the pieces were full size to fit with a normal 3.5" King Staunton set.

Very nice components. However, rules should state how players' chess "armies" are placed on the board. I would suggest that the players alternate taking turns placing their faerie pieces since the starting positions have a huge effect on the game.

Great chess set, great concept.

Very enjoyable game. There are so many new pieces and rules that the whole game is very interesting to play out, start to finish. The turns sometimes take a minute though because of how all the new pieces move, so don't try using a timer.

Kind of a disappointment. First it should be noted: it's aesthetic. Very cool board, nice piece designs, sleek box for a good price. The game begs to be played. Unfortunately, the rules are not so enticing. It seems to me that the people who made this have a limited background in standard Chess. The game makers devised a point system so that players can create roughly equal forces and then pit them against each other. This is a really cool idea, but the Chess community already has well-defined and carefully considered point values which the game creators are seemingly unaware of. Moreover, the new pieces they have devised are often uninteresting, sometimes pointless in spite of the fact that they have hundreds of years of fairy chess pieces to draw from (none of which are copyright protected).

I was on a fairy chess kick recently so this box was not a bad purchase; I bought two of these boxes, repurposed the pieces, threw out the cards explaining the rules, and had loads of fun playing different chess variants.
