My City

Solid campaign game, though I'm not fan for scoring system. Play time for each game is around 20 minutes that fits perfectly for short moments. Not much new and interesting game mechanics for me, but I can enjoy every game, thanks for legacy elements that changes rules and adds new stuff for every scenario.

Probably the least satisfying polyomino game I've played. Not being able to flip tiles is continually frustrating. Early mistakes in sticker placement plague you continually. Almost completely unsatisfying.

I thought I could no longer be impressed by both legacy games and polyomino games, but the good Doctor has proven me wrong. The tile laying is devilishly simple to begin with, but ramps up in complexity the more you play. Every new episode adds just enough nuance to keep things interesting without overwhelming you in rules, and opening each new chapter envelope is a genuinely exciting moment as it promises new mechanics that transform the way the game is played. All throughout the campaign My City is consistently tense and satisfying, a true masterpiece.

Knizia and excruciating choices are synonymous and My City doesn't stray too far from that paradigm over 24 'episodes' of polyomino-placing goodness. Each episode slightly adds or subtracts rules for how tiles can be placed, or additional scoring criteria to meet. You're constantly looking and optimizing your tile placement based on which tiles are yet to come in the episode. Felt a bit repetitive towards the end of the 24 episodes, but still felt very satisfactory overall.

Hier habe ich den Hype null verstanden. Ja ein familientauglichen Legacy Spiel aber mechanisch zu eintönig und über die Partien zu viele Frustmomente.
