7 for solo game
New York Zoo strikes me as a more successful Patchwork. Rather than worrying about victory points, the first player to fill their board up completely with pieces wins the game.
You're trying to gain animal enclosures by moving a piece around a circular board (again, similar to Patchwork). You can also gain animals in certain places. Rolling over particular borders on the board kick off a breeding round for all players.
When an enclosure fills up completely with animals, you get the right to take an 'attraction,' which are brown tiles of various sizes that can help you fill in the gaps and cracks around the enclosures in your zoo.
I'm not sure if I'll keep it forever, but the gameplay is nice and smooth, and the game plays pretty quick too.
Uwe's trademark animal breeding has made it into one of his polyomino games. It's a nice mix, and gives the game a slight engine building feel to the standard jigsaw puzzle. Not sure it has enough variability for repeat plays. I love the diverse selection of animeeples.
I really enjoyed this game and I think it has to do with the cute little animal pieces.
Good game, has a good balance between strategy, simple mechanics and cuteness.
This is a cute little polyomino game about acquiring and breeding animals for your zoo. It has a nice vibe to it that gives a good zoo-type feel, and the pieces are all very good quality and cute. I adore this one, and had a lot of fun with our play.
A lot going on for a small box game. Love the animeeples. Gaining polyomino pieces is unique and I liked that other players benefited during my actions. Friendly, but annoying to a competitive player like me, and that makes me like it more. One play, I was in last place for 3 player game. Would play again.
