Validimir Putin's face adorns the cover of this oddly named iteration of the Fleet series which adds another chapter to this venerable but excellent game. It has some of the same stomping ground as 3rd and 7th Fleet, but a very updated OOB including B2 Spirits, Bastion SSMs and all the new super quiet Virginia and Yasen submarines (and their AIP brethren). Although the base system remains the elegant Fleet ruleset, added to that you get rules for AWACS, stealth and BVR combat. At this point I am not sure it has been translated (the rules are in Japanese, the counters are not) but the Fleet series is not hard to balance, and it remains easy to design great scenarios. Here you have the Kuriles chain, with a long and unresolved history of tension between Russia and Japan, and this is the perfect sandbox to explore what would happen if they came to blows in a Tsushima re-run at the other end of the Home Islands. As always, a superb game.
