These rules are very good. Play smoothly. I'd get rid of recording crew losses though, as ship damage exceeds it so much that the ship is sunk before it matters.
A good start for 2009.
Excellent game - a great improvement on Victory at Sea
The bug bit to try some WW1 naval action and a friend passed along a copy of AoD. Very good, simplified naval game, with all of the taste of the period without all the details. I may go to something a bit more complicated later on, but for now, this is a great place to start.
Have finally gotten a game in and with a few trips to the rule book and some initial misunderstandings witht he turn template, we are getting ready for another game on November 20th with my 1/6000 scale fleets. One glaring problem is in the editing of the book, with the references to other chapters and pages being left out, every number that should be there simply has XX in it's place. If the numbers were present, it might still be a problem, as the chapters arent numbered anyway. With 3 in the group possessing rule books, we managed to find our way through and play, and will be adding squadron formations and random crew quality to our next game. First game stuck with basic rules plus torpedoes.
Not worth the money. No point system. Rules were confusing. Found myself looking in the rule book way to many times even after 12 plays.
Though, I am a Keep is simple Stupid type of gamer.
