This kit provides the player mats and basic rules for how the system works along with play aids for 6 games that spell out the specifics for them. If you want to play an artificial intelligence, you will be disappointed. This is not a bot (thank goodness!) You play both sides, but you have imperfect intelligence. You have dogs of war and fortunes of war. While it doesn't replicate the experience of a 2-player game with hidden cards, it is far better than playing two sides to the best of your ability with perfect intelligence.
Washington's War. I am going to be more critical with this application because Washington's War is my all-time favorite game. I did not like the system as presented in the rules because it was too random in a game that requires you to take 7 cards and formulate a strategy. However, [thread=3329843]I tweaked the system[/thread] (click link to read them) and the results were pretty good!
Caesar: Rome vs. Gaul: It used the basic Stuka Joe system -- pretty much like Paths of Glory. It was ok, but I'm not the best judge as I did not like the game and sold it -- not because of the CDG system but because of other reasons.
C&C: Ancients worked very well. There's nothing special about the "First Strike" card: play it when you want. This is basic Stuka Joe stuff. If there is an imbalance in hand sizes, add that many cards to the one player. In other words, if it is 6 and 4, you put 5 cards down on each and the player with 6, you add an additional card on two of the slots and you flip over both at the same time for more command flexibility. This system also works in basic Memoir '44 (not Overlord) and Battle Cry. But I think it works a little more smoothly if you take [thread=3302869]the tweaks I posted for C&C: Napoleonics[/thread] and apply them here.
Paths of Glory. This is the game that started the Stuka Joe system, so it runs like clockwork.
For the People: I have not tried the CDG rules for this game yet.
C&C: Samurai Battles I have not tried the CDG rules for this game yet.
Works really well in different Cdg games adds that good random factor in choosing cards
CDG Solitaire system for 6 card driven games published by GMT games.
I purchased this expansion so I could play my "Paths of Glory" game, solitaire. Played and works incredibly well. I look forward to trying this system on "For the People".
Summary: Thank you Stuka Joe. This is evidence that the BGG platform community can come together to solve any problem. There are some very intelligent people here, and I am really pleased to be part of this community.
I have many better things to do with my time than fool with this.
Quick play though using the CDG system with Memoir '44. I thought it worked well as a guide to what the "other" side might do when playing solo.
