BattleTech: Alpha Strike – Commander's Edition

Better than the original AS, but still a game with too little depth for the required investement. Pass.

Alpha Strike: Commander’s Edition is great for people that want a streamlined way to play BattleTech. It very much feels like a lighter weight version of Total Warfare when you use the hex map conversion rules on page 68, plus other optional rules.

This is the level of abstraction I've been looking for in BattleTech. Even though this game removes some of the nitty-gritty details, it still has that "BattleTech" feel. The game flows much faster, meaning I can have bigger battles in a shorter amount of time. I think the "combined arms" aspect can still be a bit fiddly but still a great game.
