When the designers of a historical simulation TELL you that they are purposely ignoring/trashing THE PRIMARY SOURCE [Josephus, of course] to go with their how they feel it should have been... pffff!
Excellent game - Avalon Hill took the game and greatly improved the quality of its components.
Map is a copy; all other items are preset and all counters are punched.
a 10 for the 1st and 2nd edition by Historical Perspectives.Their 2nd edition made this even better with the 1 rulebook compared to 6 seperate booklets in the 1st edition. The AH map was good as were the counters but I thought it tackey that all the original scenario's weren't in the AH rulebook like Historical Persectives had and had to be added in a General magazine article later.I play the HP editions over the AH updated every time.
IMHO the 2 original editions map and counters(OK the whole package) just has more charm over the Avalon Hill affair.
