Season 1 was fine, but Season 2 is much better.
As with Season 2, the prop work is great (aside from one item which you'll have to replace as it's key to the game, but has multiple reports of being unusable from the Hunt a Killer fanbase...), and contributes massively to what would be a very short (4 hours max) game otherwise.
I am still disappointed that Hunt a Killer boxsets require a huge online element to interpret and finish each scenario, as this is not made clear when buying the game. Still, as long as you have access to the relevant sites, it's a solid, entertaining few hours.
Fun mystery. Solid production both in physical components and digital (website, voice acting, video) aspects. I felt things got a little easy towards the end, but the overall experience was good. Bonus points for heavy use of code/cipher oriented puzzles.
So far this one is good, but not quite as good as the dive bar mystery. The puzzle and mystery are quite satisfying, but they stumbled in the production of one of the props/components -- which was a real surprise, given how good the props are otherwise.
We liked the case enough to independently buy a replacement for that item (just avoiding spoilers here!), and we've already gotten two sessions out of it -- with more to come.
Boxes two and three avoid my complaint about box one, and take this from a 7 to an 8. We're having a blast with this mystery, and it's delightfully creepy.
We were very excited to finally get this one. We've done a lot of the one-off Hunt a Killers, and the idea of a multi-chaptered one really appealed to us. I think it's actually worth the price because of the many chapters and the way everything fits together so well and there is a nice tension-aspect to the game that wasn't there with some of the other one-offs. Everything about this was really good (except for one small but necessary aspect that I hated with gritted teeth but will not talk about for possible spoilers).
Even the recorded conversations 'felt' professional, and for some of these styles of 'murder' cases (even some of the HaK one-offs) that's really saying something.
