This is a typically good German style game but what Wallace always seems to manage to do is throw some theme in as well. Excellent start to the Treefrog line
This is a very good game. Rules are very well written and the game play is fast and I have enjoyed all three games I have played.
Slowly becoming a Martin Wallace fan, although the majority of the games I have played and loved have been his more recent works which play in a shorter amount of time. I will eventually try to play his older works, just more convenient to play the stuff that finishes in an hour and a half with our game group. Really like this as a tight, fun, and fast playing economic euro.
Góður námuvinnslu leikur.
Sweet theme! Great elegance. At top of turn roll dice to determine market price for tin and copper (on different price scales) Actions include: Auction mines, mining (purchase and fill mine with water cube) build enhancements, sell pasties (for a pound) and pass. The action track is updated and immediately affects turn order. Victory points are acquired by end of turn purchases.
After playing twice in one night, I am convinced that this is one of Wallace's most appealing economic games. I enjoy it even more than Brass due to its elegance. The rules are straight forward and there are no exceptions, which leads to a smoothly flowing game. There are a remarkable amount of nuances to consider, which was quite a surprise. I really enjoy this game, and think it is worth a purchase if you like econ games, even with the rough USD/GBP conversion rate.
