I got the opportunity to play this game at a local board game night. This is a 2-5 player roll and write game that uses a set of Polyhedral Dice. The games size and packaging is small with some re-writable tablets to track your game along with a small dice placement board.
The game is about creating different potions based on your turn order and the die that you are able pick from the roll. You try and obtain the most points by creating potions depending on the dice you choose. You have to keep an eye on the other players before someone has cleared 3 objectives and gain their stars ending the game. The game was easy to learn and after the first game you started to pick up different stratigies quickly.
For a dice game I liked the multiple paths and risk you can take when creating your potions, Your strategy is not focused on making just one potion but rather you can have different potions to get you to the win. I like the ability to have some strategy in this game. Let's face it, like most dice games there is the element of the dice going bad for you. If played right, the game has some escapes from bad rolls that can put you back on track to a win. Elements of the game like subtracting one dice from the other, adding two to your dice roll or re-rolling dice, or two draws in one turn add fun elements to the game. In a multiplayer game it was tense at times hoping your dice are not taken before your turn, or laughing when someone would earn a re-roll on the dice and it plays right into your game. This is game has enough thought that keeps it interesting and fun to play.
