I like all the modular content. Especially temples makes gameplay much more interesting, because it forces to collect artefacts from specific places.

I played the OG Ravensberger ed of The Quest for El Dorado ages back, and thought it was "ok". When the base game in NA got the Vincent Dutrait treatment (one of my fav boardgame artists), I was tempted to re-try it and while I could better appreciate the elegance of the design...it still felt there was a great core-engine here which needed more oomph. Getting all the expansions in the new updated VD art style is next to impossible in NA, so I jumped at the opportunity to try them recently. Safe to say, this is the only way I want to play this awesome game. Between these 3 expansions, you have so many modules to mix & match and create the experience that is right for you and your group. My favs are the Mysteries, Heroes, and Dangers to name a few! Pain Points: How the &@#!$ can one get their hands on these? I really hope the publisher (Ravensburger)comes out with "The Complete TQfED" with all 4 expansions with the Vincent Dutrait Art (no, it does not have to be in a ginormous "big" box of air) for NA fans. The endless forum threads prove there is demand!

This expansion is a must-have in my opinion. Let's take a deeper look at how it fixes all the remaining problems and exploits with the base game:
- You can create your own bottlenecks with new mountain tiles. However, you have skull icons there where you can't stop, so players can't exploit these spaces anymore by blocking.
- New water tiles not only add more much needed water to the game and make many cards in the base a lot more useful, but they also have a fun water flow effect pushing you around.
- The new crocodile swamps need cards with exactly matching values, making cheaper cards more valuable, and fix the strategy to just dumb all your cheap cards in the beginning.
The shrines and artifacts feel more like The Golden Temples, but with these you can build fresh maps with one way tracks and spice up the game. Not forgetting the Muisca cards, which also add new interesting options.
The only other thing to note is, you need to get creative with how to include these modules, or wait for maps from other players.
