Scholars of the South Tigris

Really cool and tight design. The gameplay loop is not as open or combotastic as other Garphill games. Most of the variety comes from the scrolls' scoring mechanisms and you need to focus your strategy around them.

Very solid game but not one I need to own. Its rhythm felt a lot like Paladins to me, but thats ok as I really like Paladins. The translation mechanic could be a bit cumbersome, and the travel mechanic felt tacked on for me as did the control of the towers. However everything else was good. I'd also prefer the longer game to the shorter game as the shorter game just felt too short for my tastes.

There is also a bit of luck with how the the cards come out and how things line up with your starting card, but not so much that I really minded it.

KS edition w/coins

After first play it's excellent. Starts with lots of options to the point of almost being overwhelming. However, once you actually make that first decision the rest falls in line. Very deep and complex given how simple the actions are. Love how the income and card play/action selection is married together. Played the casual game mode can't see a time where my group would choose to play epic. Casual felt like the right length.
