2/5 Base Wingspan is a solid engine building game. It suffers from luck and swingy cards. The game has pretty much no player interaction (other than minimal over dice and cards). Competitive version (3/5) and Co-op variant (3/5). Old plastic components were much better than the new crappy cardboard components. The company is trying for better sustainability, but they could have used recycled plastic. the new components won't last wear and tear. This is a friendly family weight game that is fun. Reading the rules is a bit tricky and can feel overwhelming, but the rulebooks are fantastic. Learning the game from someone teaching it is much easier. The game even includes easy start guides & cards. Some players can get better draws than other players, but that is common with most card games. The base game board really suffers from spamming egg laying for points. The AI works really well, but there is not much going on. You are still pretty much playing beat your high score, even in the co-op mode. There are tons of bird cards so you can either remove the one's you don't like or play with them all. 200+ plays.

4/5 Wingspan expansions are all pretty solid. Europe adds new bird abilities which are awesome and some new goal tiles. Oceania/Pacific adds in new bird abilities, goal tiles, nectar, & boards. The new board is amazing and addresses the balance issues. Nectar is a new wonderful wild resource (with a small house rule it is perfect!). A lot of these birds favour the new co-op mode which is simply beat the AI. Asia is a great standalone game that can be played without the duet board, it can be an expansion incorporated into the base game, or it can be it's own game utilizing the duet board. The new duet board is really cool and it works well; however, it doesn't add that much to the overall experience nor point scoring to warrant the extra playtime. We are happy to play duet, but would prefer to do it without. Asia also adds new bird powers which are great. The vision friendly cards should have been released all in one big pack instead of individual. We would buy them, but they're expensive. It is exciting to know that South America, Africa, & Antarctica are coming in the future.

4/5 Fan content is really well made. Some birds are great and others in the middle. It is nice to have more content of course.

House Rules: Use negative nectar scoring (-5/-2) which solves the overabundant use of nectar. Keeps the game tight. Start with 1 resource of each type and keep them (terraforming mars quick start works really well at speeding up gameplay).

Should be available to purchase. One of my favorite birds and it is unattainable.
