I don't actually own a professionally published version of this, but printed out a paper set and rules from the internet. Some day I'll get a manufactured one or carve a wooden one.
Amusing odd small (5x5, 5 pieces per player) Shogi variant which does NOT use the standard pieces rules (so I wouldn't recommend it for learning or practicing standard Shogi - try Mini Shogi, Judkins Shogi, Goro-Goro Shogi, or Simple Shogi for that).
The pieces have nonstandard promotion values, and every time you move a piece, you flip it over! Fun weird change of pace.

5x5 Shogi variant from 1976.
Unconventional pieces: Tokin/Lance, Silver/Bishop, King, Gold/Knight, Pawn/Rook. A piece promote/demote every time it is moved. Drops is unrestricted (either side up, drop of e.g. pawn to end row or for checkmate.
Refreshingly different. Reminds of [thing=37058] [/thing].
