Único juego que he encontrado sobre esta batalla con mecanismos ágiles y sencillos. Parecido al Battles of Ancient World adaptado con cartas que autorizan el número de fichas a mover y combatir en cada turno y con especialidades, aunque sin ser un CDG.

Easier when on the spanish side, but good clean fun overall. Basic wargame as in the good ole days. High replayability.

A really fun game to play with great replay value and can be played solitaire with no problems.

Likely favors the Spanish but it solo-friendly and provides a quick little meatgrinder of a game. Rules have a few tricky bits due to how they are laid out and call for a highlighter (pay attention to the limits on what units can defensive fire and the restrictions on the effect of artillery when it fires on a target).

This is a small boxed game meant to be learnable and playable in a short amount of time—I rate each of its elements on how successful it is in accomplishing that goal. Reviewed based on 2 games, both ending with Spanish victory around turns 20-21. Map Suitability—8 I like the leathery map. It has an 11”X14” map that is visually interesting and mostly unambiguous. As a game subject the island with causeways to it is a unique environment to play on. Counters-- 8 Laser cut counters, well suited to a lot of play and easy to read. Rules Clarity—7: 5 as provided in the box, 8 as supported with answers on BGG. I find it distressingly common that simple games try to make their rules as short as possible and fail to provide clarification and examples (such as LOS down a hexside between a clear and an obstacle hex), where an extra page would make the rules clear and tight. However, the game is supported with very prompt BGG support, so it was easy to get the clarification that way. Simulation Value—7 for a basic level simulation in that one has a feel for the major types of units and the unique terrain of this battle.
Play Balance-- 5-6 Two games is not enough to judge clearly, but I do feel the Spanish have the edge. Enjoyment Value—8 The battle system is simple and elegant. It goes a long way toward making the game short and fun while retaining unit and terrain variation. Overall, using BGG Criteria, 7
