Marrakesh: Camels & Nomads

I would not think Marrakesh needed more stuff...but I can appreciate what the various modules add to the base game. The variable player powers and the fancy tax tiles were my favorites, and the camel track was the least interesting. While fun, I felt nothing here was compelling enough to add to the already bloated set-up/ tear-down time and tablespace needed by the base game.

This is a big and VERY worthy expansion adding major modules and a very good solo-modus to the basic game. The nomad-keshis act as wild workers, one nomad available each turn. They can be hired (payment water and dates) and (if coins are provided) change their position. With that level-up your current action - tactically very interesting! The camel race offers a very nice and thematical option to use surplus keshis. If one player decides to use this track seriously, the others should follow, or they will loose more and more points in the end (and will gain camel dung. Nobody wants camel dung). The variable player powers are very nice to play and add even more variability and fun to a great game. Very good solo-modus with a pretty double-layer-playerboard and nice extra-components (Strategy-Tiles), plays like a really realistic and tough 2-player game. Low maintainance, about 2 hours. So do you need this expansion all in all? If you 're a solo player, yes, definitely. If not, it depends on how often "Marrakesh" is on your table. But it's really good.
