? Game explanation: In Gnome Village, you try to furnish your gnome village in the best possible way to receive points. Each player chooses a colour and receives 2 house tiles, 5 road tiles and 4 coins. The remaining tiles are placed by type, with 4 tiles lying open, this is the workshop. A turn consists of 5 actions. On your turn, you first turn over a forest card, this card gives you a bonus. After this, you earn coins for the gnomes on a farm. After this, you may turn over any workshop and receive its products. The received products cannot be saved for another round. With products you can perform actions such as buying a house, placing extra gnomes (only if you have space for this), or building a road. After this, you can use coins to buy additional items, such as buildings and workshops. Finally, you move the gnomes for the next round. If a gnome ends up on a workshop, the workshop becomes active again. Some workshops have a special action, you perform the action as soon as your gnome stops on this tile. It is now the next player’s turn. Once a player has placed all gnomes, the game ends, the current round is still completed. Players receive points for placed workshops, houses and buildings. Each coin is worth 1 point. The player with the most points wins the game.

⭐ Our review: First of all, Gnome Village looks super cute. The theme is really fun! The rules are a bit unclear, but are obviously still in development. A lot of work is being done on this. The concept of the game is fun and we think it is suitable for the whole family. The turns go very quickly. You can explain the game quickly. The gnome meples are of course very fun!

I was privileged to playtest the prototype. And this is what my opinion is based on. The game looks amazingly colourful and is thematically very well put together. The theme is well implemented throughout the game. In addition, the game is well constructed. The tile laying is fun because you have to turn the tiles over in between, which is nicely illustrated. In addition, it plays smoothly. You start with little, but soon you are building your engine, your action possibilities grow and you see your village grow. There is also some interaction in it. Not a lot, but every now and then such action comes along and it is nicely done. Definitely recommended if you like gnomes and tile games! I've backed a copy on kickstarter!

Played an early copy of this game. Contents may differ slightly.

Warning, contains some Gnome puns.

Don't be fooled by Gnome Village's cute exterior and artwork. These gnomes are merciless, ruthless businessmen at best. Feeling sick? There's a health practice for that. Feeling in love? There's a love shop. Feel like traveling? Just take the airport. Need more gnomes? Educate them. Heck, there's even a place for organized crime in this game when you designate a gnome to become a thief. But that's on a need to Gnome basis... Of course, everything comes at a price...how will you spend your precious gnome coins?

Hidden under its cute exterior, a strategic engine builder game influenced and inspired by games like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne and a bit of Catan can be found. You take some of the core elements of these games, mix in the fabulous gnome-mythology and Gnome Village appears.

Starting the game with only 2 gnome houses and 1 out of 5 gnomes, you need to invest your coins wisely from the get-go. Will you spend your every penny as fast as you can? Or will you save up to buy bigger items later on? And will you buy businesses or workshops? And where will you place these buildings without ruining your future plans?

During the game, you will need to build your village as efficiently as you can. You earn points by building businesses, earning coins and having the most gnome hat shops. One a player has all of their 5 gnomes in their village, the game ends after 1 turn. Of course, every gnome needs a house...you'll need to keep that in mind as well...No place like Gnome.

Gnome matter what, the amount of strategies differs widely, without any of them being the best (so far).

If you like any of the games mentioned above, building your own village or if you are just a gnome-fanatic, be sure to check this game out! You won't be disappointed. There's no business like Gnome business.

I played an early copy of this game. It has such a good table presence with the vibrant art work, and even if you did not win you can marvel at the amazing village you created. Don't be fooled by the cute look of the game, it can get very competitive and challenging. Looking forward to the final release! ?
