Some nice ideas here and a relatively 'big' game for a small box; Not sure about the ending yet as it felt a like a bit of a land grab and somewhat artificial
German version with English printout. Sold via Geek Market on 7/14/16
Sweet spot is 3 players, with 2 players coming in behind that. Above 3, everyone has to be super judicious for their turns or it slogs painfully slow. Standard mid-2000s Alea components (read: cheap), and the iconography is really tough to make out in anything other than bright light (especially the market/festivals with those tiny numbers/colors). I generally enjoy playing (mostly because it's a novel combination of erratic turn order and tile laying), but something about it makes me go "oh, yeah... we can do that..." and as such, I never really suggest it. Lots of folks talk about the manipulation of the market as being an avenue of interest, but for some reason it's not a function that I find appealing in this game and I'm not sure why.
Sadly, this has gotten lost in the 'ages'. The mechanisms that were once novel are common place, but this still did it first and better than many. It's not a must have and I don't see a need to 'upgrade' to the 2nd edition.
Preliminary rating but was surprised at how much fun I had with this unassuming Euro. Simple, clean mechanics put together brilliantly. Rating could well increase with more plays. Can't seem to get it to the table though :/
Fun, and both strategic and tactical. Interesting tradeoff between turn order and tile selection causes tense decisions. Simple to learn, and plays quickly.
Good game, interesting mechanics. Just wish the tiles were more... organic... The roads and rivers could be more like Keyflower or Carcassonne!
Has a great, simple ecomonic pricing mechanic for in game resources
Love it!!! :D
