Battle for Korsun

Initial solitaire play indicates that it is very difficult for the Soviets to achieve any breakthrough and form a pocket, let alone one that occurs on the historical timetable. The Germans find it too easy to maintain an elastic defence, using their high movement factors and ZOCs to form a solid line.

The lack of any supply rules is something of a surprise for a game that features a pocketing operation; there is, for example, no incentive for the Germans to hang on to the airfield at Korsun that was historically important for the units in the pocket.

Mediocre game about Korsun pocket. Impossible to create pocket by the Russians. Ahistorical and rather dull. Shitty design. PnP versions are much better than that crap.

The rules are simple. Both sides have a chance of winning the game, and can take initiative to attack, rather than simply retreat. A rather short and tense game.
